The 5800 Xpressmusic

The 5800 Xpressmusic

Today at a function in London, Nokia finally unveiled the Nokia ‘Tube’ i.e 5800 Xpressmusic. This is the first ‘touchscreen’ phone based on the S60 platform. This however, is not the first touchscreen phone from Nokia.

The phone is running the S60v5 user interface. The new version is bringing in a huge truckload of features with this phone. Below is a list of the things that the 5800 will be sporting.
1.) 640×360 screen resolution.
2.) 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flash
3.) Recording at the above resolution at 30 FPS.
4.) 3.5mm headset jack serving the dual purpose of headphone and TV out.
5.) GPS
6.) Resistive touchscreen
7.) Stylus and a guitar pick for tapping onto the screen!
8.) 8GB Micro SDHC

The Guru says that 90% of the times you won’t need it, when navigating the UI.
How this unit will fare in the market, considering the lukewarm response Nokia touchscreen phones have got in the past, is something of concern. But I have a feeling that this time Nokia has provided a good solution which will please the consumers. Below is the specs sheet, courtesy ‘’.
