@Vignes

If you are talking about your phone, the E63 this is what I have to say,

The number of messages you have in your phone does not affect battery life...
The standby is decent, in real world that is the kind of standby time you will get, it can be better by another 12 hours with some fiddling of the power settings.
The talk time is bad!

hi there. very good review :)
i am looking a phone with Wifi (for IM/facebook/youtube) and music playing capabilities, and somehow i got a hold of an E63 and not surprisingly, it is now at the top of my list.
I agree that the E63 sounded SURPRISINGLY good with my creative in-ear earphones, but i noticed that there is a hissing background noise. Do you also experience such noise? It's more conspicuous when you're changing tracks.

Nokia discussion forum has all the answers. The configuration described here is tested in E51 and recently E63 by me. I am using WLAN, not the data connection from cellular operator. Things might be different if you are not using WLAN.

No all the symptoms are that of a defective battery, if a phone is lying idle, the battery does not heat up. And the E63 cannot just switch off with that much of battery left. I suggest you give the E63 along with the battery to the nearest Nokia Care Center and get it resolved.

I am little careful about skype. Traditionally when you make a call, skype server gives you the IP address of the called party and your voice goes through internet (WIFI or GSM or GPRS or 3G). But now they are introducing kind of paid services in UK. Some skype clients, AFAIK, calls a local mobile company's number (in UK) and the actual skype clients are running in the mobile companies computers. So you will not be able to use such clients with your WIFI. This is a good trick to get money from customers and prevent them from using their wifi. Mobile company shares some revenue with skype. The dependency is too much. You think that you are still using the traditional skype but you are not. So, I am afraid that skype, now owned by Ebay, will not be a good choice in future.

One solution is to use fring which acts as a wrapper client for many voip services. I use it with E51. It should not be different in E63. But my choice would be to register with Ekiga which is run by the Free Software Foundation like organisation. So you are sure that they will not cut your account one day. It is similar to skype but the standards are open SIP standards and run without business interests. You can see it at Ekiga.net The registered user-name and pwass-word can be entered in Menu>Tools>Settings>connection>SIPSettings>options>NewProfile in E series phones. Your contacts internet telephone address - sip:FriendsUsername@ekiga.net - can be entered in the telephone directory. Whenever you are in a WLAN the SIP client in phone informs EKIGA about your whereabouts just like skype. Others can contact you. When you wish to make a normal phone call - like skype out - you can buy an account from some other SIP provider like actionvoip.com for example. It is much cheaper than skype-out. Give it a try and let me know. Alternately FRING also comes with its own SIP client.

I found the E63's battery to be giving less backup than the E71 even though they are almost identical.
you seem to be getting bad battery backup... Check the settings of your device, if you do not have 3G or you don't use 3G, put your phone on GSM mode only and also change the power settings... that should help. If you are still getting dismal battery life... your battery is defective I presume.
